Tom Coughlan, senior, c 1955
Thomas Coughlan was born on 29 October 1921 at Clarecastle, Co Clare, Ireland.1,2 His common name was Tom Coughlan.3 Thomas's occupation: Tom worked with Coras Iompair Eireann (CIE), the Irish Railway company. at Co Dublin, Ireland, from 1942 to 1961. It was through being stationed in Stillorgan railway station that he met Bridgie, who worked nearby on the Brewery Road..1 Thomas Coughlan and Mick Mooney were good friends, thanks to their connections through C.I.E.3 I believe Tom and Bridie to have met due to Tom's having lived for a time at the Leopardstown Level Crossing while Bridie worked in the Convalescent Home on Brewery Road. They 'courted' in the general Stillorgan, Sandyford and Stepaside areas.3
Thomas Coughlan married Bridget Doyle, daughter of John Doyle and Mary Diffley, on 18 April 1956 at Sandyford Road, Sandyford, Co Dublin, Ireland. The witnesses was Tom's brother an unknown person and Bridie's sister an unknown person.1,4
Thomas, as Bridget Doyle's spouse, resided with her at Clare House,11 Dublin Road, Stillorgan, from 1956 until his death in 1961; Clare House, 11 Dublin Road. House was bought from Des Cunningham, an uncle of Colette Moore, q.v.1 Thomas, as Bridget Doyle's spouse, resided with her and an unknown person , at Clare House,11 Dublin Road, Stillorgan, Co Dublin, Ireland, from September 1958 to 1961.1 Thomas was a very useful D.I.Y. man, and even in 2016 his son (the author) still has and uses some of the tools Thomas used. Thomas was also an avid gardener.3 According to Bridget Coughlan's written note within the Great Southern Railways Rule Book, Thomas was appointed to North Wall on this date - though in what capacity is not stated.5
Thomas Coughlan died on 21 January 1961 at Merrion Road, Dublin 4, Ireland, at age 39. He was survived by his widow Bridget Doyle.1,3 Thomas Coughlan was buried on 23 January 1961 at Kilquade, Co Wicklow, Ireland.3 It was one of Bridget's great regrets that no formal picture of her family was ever taken. Around 1964 she had one created for her by using an old shot of Thomas Snr and having it superimposed on a contemporary one of her and son Tommy.3

Bernie in Clooncarne, 2008
Bernard Doyle was born on 6 March 1937 at Clooncarreen, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland.1 As of after 1937, Bernard Doyle was also known as Bernie. He resided at Clooncarreen, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland; he lived most of his life in Clooncarne, except for a few years away at school..2 Bernie was listed on the roll as a student at Clooneagh, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland, from 1942 to 1951.3 Bernard's father John was a good accordion player and he passed his love of music onto most of his children. Bernard enjoyed playing the accordion throughout his life, and started at a relatively early age.2 He was a student at Athlone, Co Westmeath from 1951 to 1954. In July 2015 I learned from Mary Jo Dennigan that while Bernie attended a college in Athlone it was not, as I previously thought, St Mel's as of now the identity of this school is unknown.4,5,6 He left college in Athlone circa August 1954. It seems his brother, John Doyle, learned that he was unhappy there and persuaded their parents to allow Bernard come home.4,5,6 He was a a Farmer from 1955 to 1995 at Clooncarreen, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland.1 One of Bernie's best friends in Clooncarne was Willie Molloy.2
Bernard Doyle replaced John Doyle as the Land Holder in 1968 at Clooncarreen, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland. Bernard replaced John as the registered occupier.7 Bernard placed his donkey for sale 2 April 1978. The compiler of this history remembers this donkey very fondly. Indeed, it was his belief that the donkey simply passed away, and finding this advertisement came as a surprise.2,8
Bernard Doyle suffered from arthritis; both hips were replaced after 1990.2 Having experienced some discomfort for a while, Bernie was struck with severe pains while at home in Clooncarreen on 24 December 2013. He was rushed to Mullingar Hospital. Here he spent a short while in intensive care and was diagnosed as having bowel cancer.
A long and challenging course of treatment, including mild-chemotherapy and major surgery then began. He spent most of 2014 and all of 2015 until his death in late February in hospitals in Dublin (St Luke's and St James') and in Aras Carolan in Mohill, with just a few short weeks at home in Clooncarreen. Although the treatment was successful in removing the tumour that had caused his initial discomfort, the disease itself returned in a more aggressive form early in 2015.2
Bernard Doyle died on 26 February 2015 at Dublin 2, Ireland, at age 77. Bernard died at 23:45.2 The removal of Bernard from an unknown place took place on 28 February 2015. Among the attendees were an unknown person.2 He was buried on 1 March 2015 at Cloonmorris, Mohill, Co Leitrim, Ireland.2

Michael Joseph McDermott was born on 19 February 1933 at Manorhamilton, Cloonclare, Co Leitrim, Ireland. The hospital birth suggests there may have been complications.2,1,3,4 His common name was Mike Joe.5
Around before 6 August 1960 Mike Joe was charged with stealing a coat worth £2. The owner of the coat was Michael Woods of Drumdoo.
Both Mike Joe and Michael Woods were going to a dance in Mohill. Both claimed to have placed their coats in a barrel in the of a Felix Cannon, something that appears to have been a regular way of leaving the coats safe and out of the way for the duration of the dance.
Mike Joe's defence was that when going home he simply went to the barrel and took the first (and only) coat that was in it, thinking it to be his. He only discovered his error the next day and when first approached by the Gardai, admitted freely it was not his.
The case against him was dismissed.6
